PSHE and RSE (PHSE/RSE)
As a Catholic school, our mission is to support the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all pupils, rooted in the Gospel values of the Church. As part of this, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE), including Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), plays a vital role in helping children to grow and flourish as individuals.
The education of children in relationships, health and human sexuality is a precious and privileged responsibility. The Church teaches that this is a partnership with parents, who are the first educators of their children. As a school, we are honoured to work alongside you in supporting this important area of development.
To support the delivery of our PSHE and RSE curriculum, we use the Life to the Full programme by Ten Ten Resources. Ten Ten is a well-established and highly regarded Catholic educational provider, and the programme has been approved by our diocese. It also aligns with national expectations, with Ten Ten working in partnership with the Catholic Education Service and the Department for Education. We are therefore confident that this programme supports both statutory requirements and our Catholic ethos.
The programme recognises the central role of parents and carers. Through the Parent Portal, you can access materials that outline what is being taught in school, alongside resources to support discussion, activities and prayer at home.
Our PSHE and RSE curriculum covers key themes across all year groups, including:
All PSHE and RSE teaching takes place within a safe and supportive learning environment, underpinned by our school values. Pupils are given appropriate opportunities to ask questions, reflect and develop their understanding in a way that is suitable for their age and stage of development.
The Ten Ten programme is structured into three key modules:
PSHE and RSE are taught alongside Religious Education and wider wellbeing provision, ensuring a cohesive and holistic approach across the curriculum.
